Our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam is the most beloved to Allah and the most superior of all the Prophets. It is for this reason that Allah has stated:
Verily, Allah and His Angels send salat on the Prophet: O Believers, send salat (Allah's Blessings) on him and salam (greetings). (33:56)
What greater honour can there be for Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam than that the Believers join with Allah and His angels in this blessed act of salat and salam.
The countless favours of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam upon his Ummah and his affection and love for them demand that they send salat and salam upon him abudantly, asking Allah to honour His beloved Rasool sallallahu alayhi wasallam with His choicest mercies and greetings forever.
In this booklet we intend to reproduce (from Shaykhul Hadeeth Muhammed Zakaryya's Virtues of Salat alan Nabee) forty salaat and salaam which Shaykh Ashraf Ali Thanwi has obtained from authentic sources of hadeeth. Twenty-five deal with salaat, and fifteen refer to salam, thus making it a collection of forty ahaadeeth
