Friendship ...  All the friendships and relationships established for the sake of the world are of no avail. Not only are they a waste of time, but on the day of Qiyamah, they will be a means of destruction. The Glorious Qur'an announces: 'All friends on the day of Qiyamah will be enemies of one another...' Here the Qur'an has not said that friends will not benefit each other on the day of Qiyamah, that they will be separated and taken far from each other; the Qur'an has said that on the day of Qiyamah friends who are not God-fearing will be the enemies of each other. This enmity will be of such a degree that each will try to take the other with him to Hell.

After being sentenced to jail, the convicted one clings to his parents with wails and sobs saying: 'Now I realise I haven't got any friends. After I come out you will see a lot of change in my life. Now I know only my parents are my friends. Now I have realised...'
